Mold Remediation Protocol

Sample Mold Remediation Protocol

Depending on many factors, the mold remediation protocol plan differs greatly from case to case. Such factors include causes of mold contamination, locations of affected areas, methods of containment and remediation, and so on.

Note: Below is just a sample – each remediation protocol is unique.

Mold Remediation Protocol

  1. Seal off all surrounding areas with (6) mil plastic and mold-free zones of the building/home by use of a negative air pressure containment system. This system will isolate the work area and prevent the mitigation of contaminants to the unaffected areas of the home.
  2. Seal and protect contents with 6 mil plastic to prevent cross-contamination in the home.
  3. Install three (3) CFM negative air scrubbers in the interior and attic of the home to remove airborne spores/particles and to further isolate the environment.
  4. Apply an EPA registered antimicrobial/antifungal disinfectant to affected areas within the interior.
  5. Removal of the bathroom ceiling.
  6. Removal of hallway ceiling and all affected wood flooring.
  7. Removal of living room closet ceiling and all affected flooring.
  8. Removal of living room ceiling and all affected wood flooring.
  9. Removal of dining room ceiling and all affected wood floor.
  10. Removal of the kitchen ceiling and interior wall.
  11. Removal of bedroom one (1) ceiling and all affected walls.
  12. Removal of bedroom two (2) ceiling and all affected walls.
  13. Removal of bedroom three (3) ceiling and all affected walls.
  14. Removal of affected plaster ceiling on the first floor.
  15. Bag and dispose.
  16. Clean, scrub and disinfect affected areas within interior, attic, and all three (3) bedrooms of the home, as well as contents within interior, with an EPA registered antimicrobial/antifungal disinfectant.
  17. Re-fog newly-exposed areas in the interior with an EPA registered antimicrobial/antifungal disinfectant.
  18. HEPA vacuum surfaces to remove dead spores.
  19. Scrape, clean, scrub, and disinfect the affected pantry.
  20. Encapsulate affected pantry.
  21. Encapsulate newly-exposed, affected beams and plyboard in the interior, attic, and three (3) bedrooms with two coats of EPA registered mold-resistant paint to prevent the return of mold growth.
